Texas is the largest state in the Continental USA, covering two time zones and is divided into seven regions, describing the different terrain - Panhandle Plains, Prairies and Lakes, Piney Woods, Big Bend Country, Hill Country, South Texas Plains and Gulf Coast.

The climate is sunny with moderate temperatures during long springs and autumns.  The winters are short with light snow in the northern Panhandle and on the higher elevations.  The summers are hot and humid in the east and dry in the west.

The most enduring image of Texas is the cowboy and western adventures.  The best way to fulfil these dreams is on a ranching holiday and the best-known ranching area is in the Hill Country around Kerrville and Bandera, the Cowboy Capital of the World.

Texas also offers a sophisticated side to visitors with the big cities of Houston and Dallas and the smaller, but equally appealing cities of Fort Worth, Austin and San Antonio.  These cities are all very different but each offer visitors great value in shopping, attractions, entertainment and distinct experiences.

From Galveston to South Padre Island the beautiful golden sandy beaches stretch along the sparkling waters of the Gulf of Mexico and offer swimming, fishing, sailing and other water sports. As they say: Texas is like a whole other country.
